We often find ourselves looking for a snack during the day, and it’s far too easy to go hungry or fill our void with a bag of chips, a cookie or something equally dreadful. But we’re happy to report that we’re making a commitment to be more responsible – by stocking up on dried fruits, nuts and other reasonably healthy items to keep on hand to quell the beast that is our appetites.
Thankfully, TJ’s has a ton of fun snack items to explore, and we’re discovering new treats with each visit. Case in point, this Fruit Bar with Flax and Chia Seeds. Think fruit bars are just for kids? Think again. This item is packed with fiber (and flavor), and despite its diminutive size, it’s rather filling – thanks to the expansion and appetite suppression qualities you get from Chia seeds.
We weren’t sure what to expect from the texture (there’s a lot of seeds in there!), but we were pleasantly surprised. It’s a little bit crunchy, a little bit gummy, and very satisfying. Also, it’s sweet but not too much so – it’s flavored with a bunch of different fruits but has no added sugar.
This snack is a real powerhouse – in addition to being a good source of fiber, it has 1,000mg of Omega 3 Fatty Acids per bar – and let’s face it, we could all probably use more of that in our diet.
All in all, we really enjoyed these Fruit Bars!
