You know it’s officially fall when the grocery store aisles are overflowing with all things pumpkin. And each year, it seems that pumpkin flavors and scents creep their way into more and more products, earlier and earlier in the year. Not that we’re complaining – we love fall!
That’s why we were excited to try these new-for-2014 Pumpkin Joe Joe’s Cookie Sandwiches.
The result? First off, you’ll notice an unmistakable nutmeg flavor. It’s not overwhelming, but these cookies are definitely packed with nutmeg and cinnamon flavor. In fact, we’d be tempted to classify these cookies more as “pumpkin spice” flavor vs. “pumpkin” flavor, but they’re tasty just the same.
The outer cookie is buttery, crunchy, and has the slightest hint of salt. It balances well with the filling, which had a nice creamy texture and was quite thick and generously portioned.
Admittedly, our preferences lean more savory than sweet, so it’s no surprise that we found the filling to be a bit sweet for our tastes. That said, pairing the cookies with a strong coffee or espresso helped to temper the sweetness and proved to be a delicious afternoon break.
All told, we’re big fans – these Pumpkin Joe-Joe’s are a welcome addition to the ever-expanding Joe-Joe’s line of cookie sandwiches. Try them before the seasons change again – they are no doubt available for a limited time only.
